Before July, 2006, Washington law required competitive telecommunications companies to file and maintain price lists at the UTC describing the services and prices they offered.
The law changed in July 2006, and companies no longer have to file price lists. For more information on price lists please see our Price List FAQ page.
Since the elimination of price lists, some companies have asked how to expand their operating authority to include a new service.
Companies still report the telecommunications services they offer on the annual report -- you can use that report to expand your operating authority.
Here's how it works:
- If you offer a new telecommunications service in Washington, please:
- check the appropriate box on your next regular annual report, and
- provide any additional information you think necessary to document your financial and technical ability to provide the service.
- If staff has any concerns about your ability to offer the services, we will contact you in connection with your annual report.
No other filing is required.
If you need expanded authority sooner than your annual report, please contact us and we will evaluate your request and provide email confirmation as appropriate.
