Insurance Requirements
All companies who register under SSRS or as an Exempt carrier must file and maintain evidence of public liability and property damage insurance.
Proof of Insurance
Exempts need Form E
The standard insurance form is commonly called "Form E" and is issued by your insurance company. The formal name is "Uniform Motor Carrier Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability Certificate of Insurance". Exempt carriers need this form
SSRS requires BMC 91 or BMC 91x
This is a federal insurance form used when an interstate motor carrier operates under federal authority. Under the Single State Registration System, a copy of this form is filed with the motor carrier's base state.
