UTC sets a procedural schedule on Puget Sound Energy, Inc.'s request for a general rate increase for electric and gas service.

The commission suspended operation of tariff revisions filed by Puget Sound Energy, Inc., by Order 01 entered in Dockets UE-090704 and Order 01 UG-090705 following the May 28, 2009, open meeting. The purpose of the filings is to increase rates and charges for electric and gas service provided to customers in the state of Washington. The company's proposed revisions provide for a general rate increase of 7.4 percent for the electric tariffs and 2.2 percent for the gas tariffs. The commission consolidated both dockets by Order 02 and held a prehearing conference on June 22, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. The commission entered its Order 04 Prehearing Conference Order and has set this matter for hearing beginning January 19 - 22 and 25, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. through in the Commission's Hearing Room, Second Floor, Richard Hemstad Building, 1300 S. Evergreen Park Drive S.W., Olympia, Washington.

The commission has scheduled three public comment hearings to provide members of the public to comment orally on the record of these proceedings. The hearing sessions will be held in Bremerton, Kirkland, and Olympia at the following times and location:
