UTC suspends procedural schedule on a tariff filing by Rainier View Water Company.

The Commission scheduled a prehearing conference for April 28, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., on a tariff filing by Rainier View Water Company. The tariff filing was prompted by a request from the Commission's regulatory staff that the Company publish its facilities charges in its tariff to eliminate the need for a separate contract with each new customer. The Company initially proposed charges of $8,640 per equivalent residential unit (ERU) for all future customers of the Southwood/Sound water system and $1,702 per ERU for all future customers of all other water systems. These proposed charges were higher than the facilities charges the Company has been charging by contract.

On January 24, 2011, the Company filed revised tariff sheets reflecting rates at the same level as recent contract facilities charges. Because these rates might injuriously affect the rights and interests of the public and Rainier View has demonstrated that the proposed filing would result in rates that are fair, just, reasonable and sufficient, the Commission, by Order 01, suspended the tariff revision and approved revised rates on a temporary bases, subject to refund.

The Commission held a prehearing conference in this matter at 1:30 p.m., on April 28, 2011, in the Commission's Hearing Room, Second Floor, Richard Hemstad Building, 1300 S. Evergreen Park Drive S.W., Olympia, Washington.

On May 2, 2011, the Commission issued Order 02 - Prehearing Conference Order setting an evidentiary hearing for August 30, 2011, to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Room 206 of the Commission's headquarters. The Commission then, at the request of the parties, suspended the procedural schedule by notice dated June 21, 2011. On November 1, 2011, the parties filed a notice asking that the schedule continue to be held in abeyance. (Docket 110054, see "Documents" at the bottom of this page for more information.)
