UTC to hear formal complaint by Verizon Access, et al. against United Telephone Company of the Northwest, d/b/a Embarq

On August 5, 2009, the commission issued Order 04 - Third Prehearing Conference Order, which included scheduling a hearing regarding proposed settlement in the case, to be held September 9, 2009, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the commission's headquarters. Click here to view the proposed settlement.

The commission further extendsthe time to file a settlement agreement to August 13, 2009, and the narrative in support of the proposed settlement to August 24, 2009. Comments on the settlement documents are due August 26, 2009.

Background:
The commission has set a procedural schedule on a complaint filed by Verizon Select Services, Inc., MCImetro Access Transmission Services, LLC, MCI Communications Services, Inc., Teleconnect Long Distance Services and Systems Co. d/b/a Telecom USA and TTI National, Inc. against United Telephone Company of the Northwest, d/b/a Embarq. The complaint alleges that Embarq's intrastate switched access charges are not just and reasonable, and are in violation of RCW 80.36.140.
